Dear Mr. Mortman:
Thank
you for your letter expressing interest in participating in the
public forum ("Forum") concerning the "do-not-call" provision of
the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Based on the criteria set forth in
the FTC's Federal Register Notice, you have selected to participate
in the panel discussion during the Forum. A list of all of the participating
organizations is enclosed. We will post a copy of the agenda on
our web site at http://www.ftc.gov
as soon as it is finalized.
The
Forum will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on January 11, 2000,
at the Federal Trade Commission, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.,
Washington, DC 20580, in Room 432. Members of the public may view
the Forum in the same room, space permitting. We also hope to carry
the Forum live on the Internet for the public to listen to and view.
We
are asking each organization to designate one person to act as the
primary representative during the panel discussion. While you may
alternate your representatives at the table during the course of
the Forum, please let us know ahead of time if you plan to have
more than one representative participating. Seating for other individuals
as advisors will be available in the audience, and may be available
directly behind the participant's seat, space permitting.
Please
also contact me by phone, at (202) 326-3115, or by email, at cdanielson@ftc.gov,
if there are any changes to your choice of designee, or if for any
reason your organization will not attend
If
you intend to provide any handouts at the Forum, you should arrange
for approximately 200 copies of each handout in order to ensure
that there is a sufficient quantity for all attendees.
We
appreciate your interest in the Commission's Forum on the "do-not-call"
issue. We look forward to this opportunity for you and other interested
parties to share views and comment on the issues raised at the Forum.
Please
feel free to contact Katie Harrington-McBride at (202) 326-2452,
Karen Leonard, at (202) 326-3597, or me, at (202) 326-3115, if you
have any questions.
Sincerely,
Carole I. Danielson
